Usually this is because you aren’t clear enough about your message to boil it down to one page. When you’re clear on your core message, it will easily fit. Remember a resume’s intent is to get an interview. You want employers to think you are interesting enough to bring in for a conversation. It does not need to tell your whole life story.

Another idea for student jobs is to try work study. Most work study positions are tied to financial aid but often you can find something that is in your major. Check with your financial aid office if you have applied and see if this is one possibility.

Talk to your family and friends about your college major also. They are there to support you. Let them! Your parents can tell you more about their college majors, and you can also find out more about the process they went through for choosing their programs of study. Friends can also help, especially if they are dealing with a similar situation. Share the information you gather and help one another at this critical time in your educations.

2) Network. Speak to your instructors/professors. When on your clinicals, speak to your preceptors to see about job opportunities when you graduate and pass the licensure examination. Even if your clinical site has no openings, your preceptors know people. Ask for names and contact information. And then.contact the individuals!

Now you have your resume ready, now what? Now that you are unemployed, you will need to decide if the career path you were on is where you would like to continue. Did you have job satisfaction? Would you like to try something new? These are choices that must be made early on in your search. Once you explore and decide what career path you want to choose, think about the companies you would like to work with.

I was getting exceptional service from our career center. I mentioned it to the staff and one day I wrote them a card and took them some organic plums. So maybe the fruits were not such a smart idea, but they recognized the gesture and the fact that i appreciated their efforts. It’s a fact that you don’t always know when things are going to happen. You might think you do, but you don’t. Have protection. It doesn’t mean you need it in your pocket at all times, just where you can get to it if you need it. You don’t want to have to choose between having protection and having an STD in the heat of the moment, and it’s not something to fool around with.
